We Went to the World Famous Indigenous Market in Otavalo and This Happened! (near Cotacachi Ecuador)

A trip to Cotacachi wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Plaza de Ponchos, the world famous indigenous market in Otavalo, Ecuador!

We took a $6 cab ride from Cotacachi to the market on a Tuesday. The best day of the week to visit is on Saturday when they close off the streets and the market explodes to several times its normal size.

Unfortunately, Saturday was the only day we could film a real estate tour so we couldn’t go to the market that day. Besides, we try to avoid large crowds when we’re filming for a variety of reasons.

When you visit Plaza de Ponchos, be sure to tell Emelia that you saw her on our video!

Hola todos! Welcome to my author bio page! Let's see. Where to begin... I grew up in the country on a lake outside a small Kansas farm town. As soon as I could, I got the hell outta there! Since then, I've lived and/or worked in Kansas City, Washington D.C., Denver, San Francisco, and Ecuador. I started and sold a dotcom, wrote a book about it, started a YouTube channel, and now I write a lot. Amelia and I have embraced the Unconventional Life and we want to help you do it, too!
