Unconventional Expats of Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 132)
This was a jam packed day in our expat life in Cuenca Ecuador! We started with Spanish lessons, then hosted our monthly event for Cuenca’s Unconventional Expats, and ended our day at the Tribal Fusion Open House where Amelia showed us her ever-improving dance skills.
Walking Spanish Lessons w/ Christina
Our Spanish tutor, Christina, is starting her own Spanish school. She is getting her office space setup now and is planning to have an open house on September 20th. You bet your bippy we’ll be there filming so stay tuned for more information!
In addition to being an awesome Spanish teacher, Christina translated for us at our interview with Patricio Palomeque. You can watch that video here: Cuenca Ecuador Art Scene w/ Patricio Palomeque (Episode 117).
Monthly Cuenca Unconventional Expat Social Gathering
This month’s social gathering for Cuenca’s Unconventional Expats was a lot of fun! We had 17 people (3 left before we took the picture) so the venue was a little small. Pepe’s Place, which is connected to Pepe’s House B&B, was a great host, but we’re going to need a larger venue for next month.

The Tribal Fusion House
As many of you know, Amelia loves to belly dance! After we left our Unconventional Social Gathering, we walked down through El Centro to The Tribal Fusion House for Amelia’s dance class. Julio was hosting an open house and offered a free class to new students before we arrived.
Once Amelia’s class started, I walked down to el Río Tomebamba and along the river path to Namaste. I hung out there for an hour with Chinnu and Abin before heading back to get Amelia.
Then we walked back to Namaste for dinner and took these pictures of The New Cathedral from San Francisco Plaza on the way.
We had such a fun and busy day here in Cuenca Ecuador! We truly value the friends we’ve made and feel very fortunate to be living our unconventional life here!
