The Beauty of Vilcabamba Ecuador: An Unforgettable Day
Nestled in the lush green valley of the Andes Mountains, Vilcabamba, Ecuador is a quiet little town that’s known for its beauty and its reputation as a place of healing and rejuvenation.
We are drawn to far-off, exotic places, and there was something about the energy of Vilcabamba that called to us. So, we packed our backpacks and set off for a day trip from Loja to explore this beautiful corner of the world and see what it had to offer.
As we walked through the streets lined with brightly colored houses and shops, we felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over us. The locals were friendly and welcoming, and the air was fresh and clean.
We spent our day hiking along the Rumi Wilco Trail, marveling at the stunning views, and taking in the amazing fragrances of the countless flowering plants.
Following our long walk, we stopped by Paradise Indian for a delicious lunch prepared by our friend Akhil from Kerala in Southern India. It may not have been traditional Ecuadorian food, but it was made with traditional Ecuadorian ingredients. And it was riquísimo!
As the day passed, we found ourselves feeling more alive and vibrant. We knew that this place had worked its magic on us, and we were grateful for the opportunity to experience it.
Our time in Vilcabamba may have been short, but we left feeling relaxed, peaceful and reconnected to nature. We hope to stay longer next time.

Hola todos! Welcome to my author bio page! Let's see. Where to begin... I grew up in the country on a lake outside a small Kansas farm town. As soon as I could, I got the hell outta there! Since then, I've lived and/or worked in Kansas City, Washington D.C., Denver, San Francisco, and Ecuador. I started and sold a dotcom, wrote a book about it, started a YouTube channel, and now I write a lot. Amelia and I have embraced the Unconventional Life and we want to help you do it, too!
