Michael Retired Early & Moved to Cuenca
Michael graciously allowed us to share his story. This is why we do what we do…
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you thank you for all that you have done for me. I first saw you and Amelia on YouTube back in 2022-23 about your life experiences in Ecuador. I moved to Cuenca from Denver in early 2024 and am currently waiting on my permanent residency visa.
My family thought I was nuts, but now they understand what a special life I’m living here in Cuenca. I have always understood that nothing is guaranteed in life but following you made me move my retirement up a year earlier and have been living here in Cuenca for the past two years.
I have been around the country twice, Peru, the Galapagos, Guatemala, I’m going to Quito next week to meet some friends and my daughter is coming to Cuenca on the 18th for the second time.
I have been so fortunate to have found you on YouTube. You helped me change my life and will always be grateful. I will continue to follow you both.

Hola todos! Welcome to my author bio page! Let's see. Where to begin... I grew up in the country on a lake outside a small Kansas farm town. As soon as I could, I got the hell outta there! Since then, I've lived and/or worked in Kansas City, Washington D.C., Denver, San Francisco, and Ecuador. I started and sold a dotcom, wrote a book about it, started a YouTube channel, and now I write a lot. Amelia and I have embraced the Unconventional Life and we want to help you do it, too!
