Amelia And JP VLOG 267: We FINALLY made it to Northern Ecuador and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Now we know why expats love this area!
The city of Cotacachi is very clean, has lots of excellent restaurants and coffee shops, plenty of expat-oriented housing options, and the views are spectacular!
It was a short 90 minute drive from the Quito airport to Cotacachi. The highways were good and the views were amazing.
We stayed in an AirBnB on the east side of town, about a 10 minute walk to the main city center. It was affordable, clean and the hostess was very nice, but the accommodations were a bit too rustic for me.
Amelia enjoyed “glamping” and we both enjoyed the dogs, but I prefer something a little more modern. The suicide shower head wasn’t sufficient to overpower the cold mountain spring water so the showers were few and FAST.
If you’re interested, here’s a link to the place we stayed.

Hola todos! Welcome to my author bio page! Let's see. Where to begin... I grew up in the country on a lake outside a small Kansas farm town. As soon as I could, I got the hell outta there! Since then, I've lived and/or worked in Kansas City, Washington D.C., Denver, San Francisco, and Ecuador. I started and sold a dotcom, wrote a book about it, started a YouTube channel, and now I write a lot. Amelia and I have embraced the Unconventional Life and we want to help you do it, too!
