The next morning, we woke to a beautiful day during the rainy season here in Cuenca Ecuador, so we decided to take Daisy for a walk along the river. Little did we know that a pothole had my name on it....

It's also a great place to drink a cup of coffee while enjoying the view of Cuenca. Several people have asked us about organic or natural stores here in Cuenca, so we show you two of them in this video. Plus, we had some delicious vegan sushi for lunch at Origami....
Two Birthday Parties in Cuenca Ecuador Two Birthday Parties + Salsa Dancing in Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 87) (4/2/2019) - We had a busy Tuesday with two birthday parties and my friend Stephen's arrival from the states. On Thursday, we went to Café Libre for dinner and then Salsa Dancing at Verde Pintón y Maduro. Be sure to check out our next video. Stephen does some crazy adventure sports here in Cuenca that Amelia and I would never do!

Our friends Jimmy and Sharon who recently moved to Cuenca from the US requested a Valentine's Day video and we were happy to oblige. I was going to make it a surprise, but I decided against it because that's not really who we are. We're very practical people and I would rather have Amelia pick out her favorite flowers and chocolates instead of trying to guess what she wants. And she chose flowers and chocolates that I would have never bought, so everything worked out. We also had a very special Valentine's Day Dinner at Café Libre in Cuenca. This was an experience we'll remember for the rest of our lives!
Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador Delicious Treats at Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador – A Day In Our Life (Episode 46) (12/27/2018) - We walked right by Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador on our way home and couldn't resist stopping by for some delicious treats. But before we went there, we made a few other stops on this day in the life. One of the things we love about living in Cuenca is running errands on the weekends. Instead of hopping in a car, driving through traffic and fighting for a parking space, we simply put on our walking shoes and head out to front gate. It's common for us to log nearly 20,000 steps (that's about 8 miles) on Saturday and/or Sunday!
Cuenca Ecuador Christmas Lights Cuenca Ecuador Christmas Lights + Delicious Indian Food at Namaste (Episode 44) (12/22/2018) - After our delicious and relaxing dinner at Namaste India, we went for a walk along the Tomebamba river to see the Cuenca Ecuador Christmas Lights. The atmosphere is electric!
Cuenca Ecuador Day In the Life Cuenca Ecuador Day In the Life + Velvety Beet Brownie Recipe (Episode 30) (11/22/2018) - On weekdays, we're usually working out of the house, but on weekends we're very busy out and about. We started off our Cuenca Ecuador Day In the Life with a walk to Mall del Río for the annual Viva Salud (Healthy Living) event. However, it was a lot different this year than last. Life in Ecuador is often like a box of chocolates...
San Blas Cuenca Ecuador San Blas Cuenca Ecuador + Delicious Lunch @ A Pedir de Boca (Episode 28) (11/20/2018) - We love walking around Cuenca on Sundays because the city is so quiet. Most of the stores are closed on Sunday and there usually aren't very many people out so it's the perfect day to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery....
A Day In The Life Cuenca Ecuador The Half Moon Can’t Tell Time + Sweat Inducing Indian Food Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 24) (11/8/2018) - This is a fun day in the life video! In the afternoon, Amelia went to Tribal Fusion for belly dancing class and we ended up at Namaste India for dinner. We had planned on grabbing a pizza para llevar (for takeout) at Fratello, but Amelia and I miscommunicated our plans and they were closed by the time Amelia finished up with belly dancing....
Goza Cafe Cuenca Ecuador Goza Café Cuenca + Warm Sourdough Bread from Tosta (Episode 21) (11/1/2018) - We walked to Tosta to get some fresh baked, warm sourdough bread near our house here in Cuenca Ecuador. On our way back home, we stopped by Goza Café Cuenca to get some delicious, dark Ecuadorian coffee....
Belly Dance Cuenca Ecuador Belly Dancing at Fratello in Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 14) (10/17/2018) - Back in the states, Amelia enjoyed Pole Fitness (that's pole dancing for exercise), but here in Cuenca, she has fallen in love with Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing! She only had 4 days to learn this dance for the Belly Dancing at Fratello fundraiser, and she did great!
Sabatinos Artisanal Market Cuenca Ecuador Sabatino’s Artisanal Market in Cuenca Ecuador + Belly Dancing & Music Festival (Episode 4) (9/24/2018) - Today, we visited Sabatino's Artisanal Market here in Cuenca Ecuador to get some organic peanut butter, vegan fudge, bread and other stuff. Following a life-changing event back in Denver Colorado, we took stock of our lives and decided we needed to do something different.

After a lot of research and reflection, we made the decision to sell everything we owned and leave the United States in search of a more unconventional life, in a more affordable and tranquilo part of the world.

When we moved to Manta Ecuador, Amelia and I both When we moved to Manta Ecuador, Amelia and I both fulfilled a dream to live in a highrise condo on the beach with an ocean view. The views from our balcony were breathtaking, and we spent many evenings sitting out there, sipping mocktails and watching the sunset.

Flocks of pelicans flew by our balcony regularly, and we loved to watch them glide gracefully through the air. Although we couldn't see the sunrise from our condo, the sunsets over the ocean were truly incredible.

We also enjoyed watching kitesurfers on occasion, and even had front-row seats to the swimming portion of the Manta Ironman competition. The high tide was quite loud, especially when it occurred early in the morning, but it was a small price to pay for the amazing ocean views.

One of our favorite things to do was walk to the neighborhood mercadito to buy fresh fruits and veggies from Yanki and her family. We also loved to eat at South Indian, a restaurant owned by our friend Ravi.

Although we don't live there anymore, the memories of our time in Manta will always hold a special place in our hearts. And we sure miss the views!

Since our viewers seem to love our real estate tours (based on the popularity of the past videos) we've decided to start doing them again. We are NOT real estate agents and we're not "pushing real estate."

A lot of our viewers want to see the types of homes that are available when they're researching their move to other countries, so they appreciate these tours. And we enjoy looking at properties and sharing them with you.

In this video, we visited the area known as Valle de los Chillos in the southeast corner of the Quito Ecuador Metro Area. It's about 30 minutes (in good traffic) to downtown Quito and 45 minutes to the Quito International Airport.

We toured 4 properties in 2 different golf course communities, with prices to fit almost any home buying budget.

Club los Chillos is a large gated housing development with a 9-hole golf course, olympic swimming pool, clay tennis courts, bar & restaurant, large fenced park, and several other amenities.

Club los Cerros is an exclusive golf course community with houses lining the perimeter of the 18-hole professional golf course. It also has a nice restaurant in the club house.

When Amelia and I lived in Olón, Ecuador, we ofte When Amelia and I lived in Olón, Ecuador, we often took evening strolls on the beach to watch the sunset over the ocean as the soothing sound of foamy white waves lapped the shore. The colors of the sky transitioned from yellow to orange to pink to purple.

Sunsets in Olón were a ritual for us, as well as other locals and tourists (when it wasn't cloudy). We all gathered to watch in awe as the sun took its daily plunge into the ocean while families played soccer on the beach, their laughter filling the air.

Evenings were also a favorite time for the neighborhood dogs to join the rest of us on the beach. They chased birds, kids and each other, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Children built sandcastles and little red crabs scurried around digging holes as the waves filled them back in. It was a constant battle the little crabs were destined to lose.

We moved away from Olón almost two years ago, and while we probably won't move back, we still miss the sunsets and our long walks on the beach.

Those sunsets will always hold a special place in our hearts. We may not be able to physically be there to watch them anymore, but the memories will stay with us forever.

JP's Sunday Morning Memory... As we walked throug JP's Sunday Morning Memory...

As we walked through the lush rainforest near Mindo, Ecuador, we didn't know quite what to expect. Our guide, Xavier, said he had something special he wanted to show us, but that was a monumental understatement!

These were the hummingbirds of San Tadeo Birding, known for their fearless nature and stunning plumage.

We made our way to a small clearing where Rolando, the hummingbird whisperer as we now refer to him, had more than a dozen feeders hanging from various hooks and tree limbs.

The hummingbirds fluttered about and whizzed by our heads like we were just another obstacle to barely avoid. It was like a dance, the way they moved so quickly and gracefully from feeder to feeder.

Rolando asked if we would like to hold a feeder in our hands to get up-close and personal with the hummingbirds. Of course we said yes! And held our breath as they landed on our hands, their tiny feet tickling our skin as they drank.

We watched in amazement as they flew circles around our heads, their wings a blur of motion. They were so close that we could feel the wind from their wings and see the shimmering iridescence of their feathers, each one a different shade of green, blue, and white.

It was an experience we will never forget, being surrounded by these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. The hummingbirds of Mindo captured our hearts, and we will always cherish the memories of this magical encounter.
