Cuenca Ecuador Mercados

The Cuenca Ecuador Mercados are truly a sight to see. They’re full of color and culture, with delicious and affordable non-GMO foods.

Cuenca Ecuador Mercados VLOG

Sunny Sunday In Cuenca Ecuador Sunny Sunday In Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 138) (9/7/2019) - After a long winter season of clouds, cold and rain, we're finally seeing the transition back to summer. We thoroughly enjoyed our sunny Sunday in Cuenca Ecuador meeting some of our YouTube subscribers from around the world, walking Daisy along the river, going to the mercado and the world famous Cuenca flower market, and relaxing with a delicious glass of fresh juice. What an amazing city this is!
Cuenca Sunny Saturday Cuenca Ecuador Yanuncay River Walk // Day In The Life (Episode 107) (5/21/2019) - We're back to business as usual here in Cuenca, Ecuador after are 4 week trip to Miami, Amsterdam, India and back. This day in the life video gives you a good taste of life here with a Cuenca Ecuador Yanuncay River walk, organic markets, belly dancing and delicious Southern Indian food.
Expat Landing Zone Cuenca Apartamentos Otorongo Tour – Flashback Day In The Life in Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 81) (3/19/2019) - This is a flashback day in our life. When we first moved here and stayed at Apartamentos Otorongo, we had a daily routine that included fresh fruits & veggies, and fresh baked bread...
Cuenca Ecuador Rotary Cuenca Ecuador Rotary: Mercado de Artesanías Rotary (Episode 60) (1/29/2019) - While Amelia's back in the States, I filmed the Cuenca Ecuador Rotary: Mercado de Artesanias Rotary. It's usually just called "the rotary" by the gringos and it's located at Vargas Machuca y Gaspar Sangurima just one block East of Mercado 9 de Octubre. The Rotary has lots of mostly indigenous vendors selling furniture, metalwork, hand-woven baskets, pottery, kitchen utensils, clothes, bags, rugs, souvenirs, etc. It's a great place to find unique gifts for your loved ones, or obscure items for yourself....
Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador Delicious Treats at Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador – A Day In Our Life (Episode 46) (12/27/2018) - We walked right by Zatua Miski Cuenca Ecuador on our way home and couldn't resist stopping by for some delicious treats. But before we went there, we made a few other stops on this day in the life. One of the things we love about living in Cuenca is running errands on the weekends. Instead of hopping in a car, driving through traffic and fighting for a parking space, we simply put on our walking shoes and head out to front gate. It's common for us to log nearly 20,000 steps (that's about 8 miles) on Saturday and/or Sunday!
Mercado 27 de Febrero Cuenca Ecuador Cuenca Ecuador Mercado Food Cost & Prep (Episode 33) (11/29/2018) - Every Thursday morning, we head to Mercado 27 de Febrero near our house in Cuenca Ecuador to get our fresh (mostly) organic fruits and veggies. This video shows one of our typical fruit and veggie hauls; this one cost us $19.
Cuencas Supermarket Supermaxi Cuenca Ecuador Supermarket – Supermaxi El Vergel (Episode 11) (10/10/2018) - This morning, we visited Supermaxi El Vergel to get some of our staple supplies like soy milk, mushrooms, apple cider vinegar, crackers, wine, etc. We also buy trash bags, laundry detergent, canned goods, spices, tofu, condiments and other packaged items there. We typically buy all of our fruits and veggies at the mercado, but the mercados don't carry everything and we really like Supermaxi El Vergel. It's clean, reasonably priced and feels like a Safeway or Kroger back in the states. Oh, and the people who work there are all really nice and helpful. We hope you enjoy this tour of Supermaxi El Vergel. We've also included some Spanish language learning opportunities for you....
Mercado 27 de Febrero Cuenca Ecuador Mercado 27 de Febrero Organic Thursday Market in Cuenca Ecuador (Episode 3) (9/24/2018) - On most Thursday mornings, you can find us at the organic popup market outside Mercado 27 de Febrero in Cuenca Ecuador. It's a short 10 minute walk from our house so it's very convenient. We're not 100% sure everything is truly organic, but everything is 100% beautiful and delicious. And since the prices are so reasonable, we figure it's worth it, regardless....

In 2008, Amelia popped into a pet store to buy som In 2008, Amelia popped into a pet store to buy some dog food for Allie, her feisty Apricot Poodle. It wasn’t her regular pet store, but she was in the neighborhood. As she walked in, she noticed the store was hosting an adoption fair, as those stores often do.

While grabbing Allie’s dog food at the back of the store, Amelia heard a high pitched bark, and much louder than the rest.

Although she didn’t go to the pet store that day to adopt another dog, she thought to herself, “If that’s a Toy Poodle, she’s going home with me.”

Alicia was very skinny, but full of life and demanding to be held, which was her preferred position at all times. They bonded immediately and Amelia filed the adoption paperwork, handing in her forms just before another couple who also wanted to adopt her.

It was meant to be.

I entered the picture in 2012 when Amelia and I started dating. Not long after, we had to put Allie to sleep. She was very old and in really bad health. I didn’t know Allie when she was in her prime, bounding up trails and playing in mountain streams. I arrived just in time for the hardest part of caring for a furry friend who rarely outlives us.

Alicia was already 12 years old when I met her, but small dogs live a long time and she was still very healthy. Her hair grew fast and since she always wanted to be held, it was often scraggly.

That’s what earned her the nickname I gave her: Muppet. She looked just like one of Jim Henson’s creations with her scraggly hair and her Ferengi fangs (a Star Trek reference for you non-geeks).

After moving to Ecuador, I adapted her nickname to Mupita Viejita, which means “Little Old Lady Muppet,” to better reflect her location and advancing age. Amelia thought my nicknames were funny, but she preferred to call her Licia or Tiny Little Poodle.

I will especially miss Amelia’s daily rendition of “Tiny. Tiny little Poodle. She’s my tiny little Poodle.” Amelia liked to sing this song as she carried out her daily activities	around the house, often with Licia in her arms.

Hola Unconventionals! Today is the BIG DAY!!! We'r Hola Unconventionals! Today is the BIG DAY!!! We're going to celebrate reaching our 50,000 YouTube Subscriber milestone with a Live Stream at 2PM Eastern/Ecuador Time over on our YouTube Channel.

It's hard to appreciate how big this milestone is for a YouTube Channel because so many channels seem to have millions of subscribers.

However, out of all the channels with at least 100 subscribers, only 1% have passed the 50,000 subscriber milestone.

We're STILL shocked and amazed that we're one of them! And that's why we want to celebrate with ALL of our subscribers AND especially our patrons with today's Live Stream event.

Thank you all SO MUCH for making this day possible!

¡Nos vemos pronto!
Amelia And JP
