Amelia and JP VLOG 198: I was able to launch Mini from our front porch this morning and she captured a truly surreal sight: an empty beach in Olón Ecuador during high season.
After 5 days of quarantine, the stress of forced isolation is weighing on us. We know this is for the best if history is any indication, and we’re happy to see that Ecuador is taking the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic very seriously, but that doesn’t make it any easier or less stressful.
Add to that, Amelia is looking at a sizable pay cut from her job back in Denver, CO. We’re hoping it’s just a pay cut at this point and not a job loss.
We’re also not sure what will become of our channel if we’re stuck indoors for weeks or months, or the borders remained closed for months or the next year. Our channel is about helping people expat in Ecuador, but if they can’t come to Ecuador, they won’t be watching our videos.
The province of Santa Elena only has a few confirmed cases, and they’re a long distance from us, but the threat of it coming here is always looming over us. What if the worst happens? We’re trying to push that thought way back in our minds.
For now, we’re going to focus on sharing some fun, light-hearted videos. The world is full of negative news right now about the virus and the economic collapse. Maybe some will appreciate a diversion with a view into our quirky relationship and our unconventional life.
Yesterday, I read about some future trends that smart people are predicting and one of them was that we will be cooking at home more (obviously), but also when the pandemic is over. So, we’re going to start posting some cooking videos over on our old YouTube cooking channel, LottaVeg: https://www.youtube.com/c/lottaveg.
We don’t think cooking videos will fit on Amelia And JP, but we think it’s important to show you how to cook easy recipes with minimal ingredients that will boost your immune system and/or enhance your mood. We hope some of you will head over there and subscribe.
We’re also going to start hosting public Live Streams to provide some support and community for our unconventional subscribers. We can all hang out for a while, you can post questions and comments via chat, and we’ll just be there for each other. The first one will be tomorrow, March 22, 2020 at 3PM ET/2PM EC. We hope to see you there!
If there’s anything we can do to make this time a little more bearable for you, please let us know. We’re all in this together!
